Wendell Woody Pathfinder Awards

The Wendell Woody Pathfinder award was established in 1997 to recognize an elite group of telecommunications industry professionals who actively participated for at least 20 years and significantly impacted the industry during that time.

New members must be nominated by a Pathfinder from a different company and be endorsed by a Pathfinder not associated with their company.

Cheryl Summers

Leverage Broadband Strategies

Cheryl Summers is the Founder and CEO of Leverage Broadband Strategies, a broadband business strategy firm she launched in 2011. A seasoned telecom executive and skilled negotiator, she has spent more than two decades helping broadband operators navigate an increasingly complex and competitive landscape. Prior to founding Leverage, she served as Vice President of Programming for Cobridge Communications and Director of Programming for Broadstripe (formerly Millennium Digital Media). She brings deep expertise in product strategy, contract negotiation, compliance, and market strategy, and has advised clients ranging from rural operators to Fortune 500 companies. She is widely recognized for her work in video strategy and retransmission consent negotiations. Cheryl has served on the Board of Directors for Christians in Communications and with Turning Point Shelter and Advocacy Services, supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. She lives in St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Clint Myers

Clint Myers began his career in the cable industry in 1996, performing door-to-door installations with TCI in Columbia, Missouri, before continuing his work in Overland Park, Kansas. These formative years in the field provided him with a strong foundation in network operations and a deep understanding of customer needs.

After nine years with the National Content & Technology Cooperative (NCTC), Clint joined AMT in 2007. In his current role, he continues to focus on optimizing network performance and ensuring reliable connectivity. He is driven by a commitment to operational excellence, sustainable growth, and a genuine appreciation for the technology that powers seamless communication behind the scenes.

Melissa Scheve

Great Plains Communications

Melissa Scheve is a highly regarded telecommunications leader with more than 24 years of experience driving revenue growth and operational excellence across the broadband and video industry. As Principal Product Manager at Great Plains Communications, she leads strategy, development, and lifecycle management for residential and video products overseeing packaging, financial modeling, product enhancements, partnerships, negotiations, compliance, and emerging technologies to strengthen competitiveness and elevate the customer experience. Previously, she held senior leadership roles encompassing sales, business development, procurement, and operations where she drove revenue growth and delivered meaningful cost savings and operational improvements at scale.

 Melissa is recognized for operating at the intersection of strategy, finance, and execution, building strong, lasting relationships across peers, partners, and industry associations. A dedicated industry advocate, she actively supports initiatives that promote collaboration, education, and advancement within the telecommunications ecosystem. Known for her authenticity, grit, and people first leadership style, Melissa translates strategic vision into execution through mentorship, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to others’ success.

Michael Adams

Adams Cable Equipment

Mike Adams is Chief Operating Officer of Adams Cable Equipment (ACE), a woman-owned business founded in 1998 and based in Lenexa, Kansas. With more than two decades in the telecommunications industry, Mike has helped build ACE into a recognized leader in outside plant material, customer premise equipment, IT asset disposition, and responsible electronics recycling. Under his leadership ACE has earned ISO certifications and built a reputation for sustainability — advocating for the reuse and proper end-of-life management of electronics across the cable and broadband industry. ACE serves operators across the country as both a buyer and seller of new and used CATV and telecom equipment.

Sarah Connole

Trouvaille Creative

Sarah is the founder of Trouvaille Creative, an international marketing firm serving clients across the U.S., Canada and South Korea. Originally from Wisconsin, she moved to Kansas City in 1998 and earned her business administration degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. She spent nearly two decades in the cable industry, rising from receptionist to leading marketing initiatives, including affiliate partnerships and in-house creative strategy at NCTC.

John Higginbotham

ACA Connects

John served as EVP & COO of ACA Connects – America’s Communications Association from 2020 until his retirement in 2026, overseeing daily operations and driving marketing and growth strategies for member companies. Prior to ACAC, he spent nearly 25 years with the Frankfort Plant Board in Kentucky, retiring as Assistant General Manager – Telecom in 2017. John was inducted into the 55th Class of the Cable TV Pioneers in 2021 and received the NCTC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.
